Boarding Your Pet
- There are many advantages to having a pet-sitter vs. boarding your pet. Most important, it usually results in less emotional and physical stress for your pet(s). “Normal” household activity while you’re away can help eliminate “away from home” signals.
- It’s best to bring your pet’s own food to a boarding facility. This will eliminate any gastrointestinal upset due to an abrupt change in diet. It’s also important to remember to provide any medications your pet is taking.
- If you are boarding your dog, the facility may require vaccination against Bordetella bronchiseptica, a bacteria that causes a common and highly contagious disease known as kennel cough.
